Chapter 12 Your Girlfriend?

  • At that moment, the car was filled with an awkward silence once again.
  • “You don’t like rock music?”
  • “Um... Nope.”
  • “Do you have any favorite songs then?”
  • Instead of directly answering his question, Keira instead replied, “Actually, you don’t have to worry about me. If you enjoy listening to those songs, please feel free to listen to them.”
  • Nevertheless, Tyler didn’t say anything in response, but he only floored the accelerator to increase their speed on the road. As the car traveled at lightning speed, there was even one point when the odometer even showed a speed of 80km/h.
  • She was simultaneously frightened by his driving while her heart skipped a beat. “Please slow down!”
  • He glimpsed at her from the corner of his eye. “I have a meeting at 9:00 and time is precious to me.”
  • Fortunately, there was not much traffic along the way and it didn’t take them long before they arrived at Bellington Hospital. However, the fact that they didn’t run into any red light on the way caused Keira to wonder whether it was a hotbed for street racers.
  • “Here we are. It’s time for you to get off the car,” Tyler said as he unfastened his seatbelt.
  • Upon their arrival, she finally heaved a sigh of relief and looked at him. “You didn’t have to give me a ride since you’re that busy.”
  • “You’re now my wife, so I will do what I should as a husband.” Tyler stepped out of his car and circled around it to the other side before he opened the door for Keira.
  • On the other hand, Keira only looked at Tyler as she was unable to shake off the feeling that both of them were being restrained by each other’s presence. Well, I suppose that’s normal. After all, who on earth is comfortable socializing with a stranger, let alone marrying one? Damn, this is like the old days in the ancient Orient, in which people never saw each other until they were married and lived like that for the rest of their lives. This is regardless of whether their lives might or might not turn out to be a happy one. Oh, man, that’s scary! At that thought, she puckered her lips and decided not to say anything, thinking it was better to respond to a stranger with silence rather than force something out of it.
  • As soon as they stepped inside Bellington Hospital, Keira noticed that there were many strange gazes being cast on them before all the medical personnel politely bowed down to them. What’s going on? This is not my first time here at Bellington Hospital, but I must say that none of them feels as weird and odd as this one.
  • Not long after that, they were greeted by a doctor whose name was Alex Wilson. “Hi, Tyler. What brings you here?”
  • “It’s about my girlfriend, so I had to come here and look into it myself,” Tyler calmly answered and looked her in the eye.
  • Upon hearing his words, he was stunned. “Your girlfriend?”
  • “Yes, Keira is my girlfriend. Please take her to her mother’s ward first. I’d like to have a word with the dean first.” Then, Tyler turned his attention to Keira beside him and said, “Head to the ward first. I’ll join you in a while.”
  • Keira nodded in agreement and watched as he made his way to the elevator while having a strange feeling. What’s wrong with him? We just received our marriage certificates, but I’m now just his girlfriend?
  • “Keira, are you really Tyler’s girlfriend?” Alex looked at Keira in confusion and asked. I can’t believe how Keira has ended up as Tyler’s girlfriend.
  • Upon hearing his question, she had no idea how she should reply to him as she was surprised to learn that her mother’s attending physician could be loquacious. Although her first instinct was to not say a single word about his question, she was unwilling to put him off with an indifferent attitude, so she casually answered, “Yeah.”
  • On the other hand, Alex only looked at the lady in awe as he tried to discover and appreciate Keira’s charm. I can’t believe Tyler would fall for her. That guy is known to be a fussy picker. Nevertheless, her looks slowly began to grow on him.
  • “Relax. Tyler and I are childhood friends and we’re just like brothers. I was about to fly abroad for a better career, but I don’t want to miss him every single day. That’s the reason why I gave up a better opportunity and worked in his hospital instead.” Alex downplayed his relationship with Tyler, which had amused Keira because she chuckled as a response.
  • At that moment, a strange voice suddenly interrupted their conversation. “Mr. Wilson, is working here really beneath you? Were you really going to fly off, or did you just return from your studies abroad?” It turned out that Tyler was behind them all the time.
  • In the meantime, Keira was stunned to see Tyler returning so soon. Then, he looked her in the eye and said, “I just spoke with the dean who just agreed to give you a discount on your mother’s medical bill. Alex, would you please arrange for her mother to be discharged from the hospital?” He told Alex to take care of the subsequent procedures.
  • “Alright, I’ll leave you both to it while I deal with the arrangements.”
  • After Alex left, she gazed at Tyler gratefully and answered, “Thank you.”
  • Tyler darted a look at her and replied, “I’ll have to head back to the office for now. Then, I’ll get my assistant to pick you up in the evening before we have dinner together at night.”
  • “Okay.” Keira gave an affirmative reply and gazed at him. He is good-looking, but something seems to be missing. Just when the man was about to leave, she called out to him.
  • “Wait a second, T-Tyler. I have a question I want to ask you.” She called out to the man who knitted his eyebrows in response.
  • “Save it for tonight. I need to return to the office now.”
  • Tyler didn’t even bother to stop in his tracks and left Bellington Hospital while Keira only fixed her eyes on the man with a frown. Fine, it’s actually better to meet up at night so that I can ask him about the company’s debt.
