Chapter 60

  • Nayla Bell
  • Decades of rust and dirt marred the iron beams of the interior. Glass windows had been shattered many years ago, causing the rays of sunlight casting in to appear jagged on the layers upon layers of age and neglect. Bright colors of graffiti surrounded us, though there were no signs of human life to have created such artwork. There was no visible garbage around. It was as if the place had been cleaned by the ghosts themselves.
  • With coal and decay crunching under Eddie’s boots, I was happy that he wasn’t making me walk over all of it. He had no issues with causing pain to other parts of my body, but oddly felt the need to protect my feet. I wasn’t comfortable, however, being carried in his arms. The close proximity to my captor shredded my emotions. On one hand, I wanted to flee, fight, and scratch the man’s eyeballs out. But then on the other hand, the warmth of his body against my chilled, exposed skin made me want to snuggle in closer. The way that he carried me was the act of a gentleman, yet the fact that I was nude and being brought to an abandoned power plant against my will was the act of a monster. And the monster smelled good. He smelled really, really good. His spicy cologne mixed with the aura of his manliness lured my senses to him whether I liked it or not.
